MINERGY

DIESEL BUSINESS UNIT

Since the start of MINERGY’s establishment and 1st commercial operation in 1995, generation was largely driven by fossil fuels, particularly bunker and diesel oil.

Under the Diesel Business Unit, MINERGY constructed two Diesel Power Plants, the 18.9 MW Sulzer Diesel Power Plant and the 27.4 MW Wartsila Diesel Power Plant both located in Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City.

18.9MW SULZER POWER PLANT

The 18.9MW Sulzer Power Plant was the very first power plant built by MINERGY. It was inaugurated by the President Fidel S. Ramos and began its commercial operation in 1995.The Sulzer Power Plant is a Bunker-C fed diesel power station with a capacity of 18.9MW (3×6.3MW).

27.4MW WARTSILA DIESEL POWER PLANT

In response to the increasing power requirement of CEPALCO and the dwindling power capacity of National Power Corporation, MINERGY constructed its second power plant adjacent to its first plant. The second plant consisted of 2×13.7MW Bunker C-Fired engine-generator sets. Its engines are from well-known and efficient Wartsila brand. The construction of the power plant was completed in nine months and was inaugurated in 2011 with commercial operation in January 25, 2012.
